Life Lied by wanjiku Published on 06/16/2007

I spoke to life but life lied
It told me to move and be and see
Life lied
It whispered to my soul
It whispered in my soul
It said tick, tock
Stop
tick tock stop
tick tock stop
These hasty untruths dug deep into tormented soul
Tick tock stop
Form a path yet untread but worn out with past feet, feats, achievements, loss, victory
Go back in time and relive life
Life laughed and said history cannot be changed
Unchanged
Rewrite history
Her story
Our story
Life claimed to be the source and end of all evils
Innocent minds cultivated in fields of hate and fear
Innocent minds become soldiers at seven, eight
Innocent minds bound by hatred, fear
Life becomes a game
To take a life is to add one onto your list
Notches on bed posts
Notches waver and shake in these disfigured brains
Nightmares enter and reside in these disfigured minds
Stop
Tick tock stop
I am a journey, life said
Life lied
Moments, living, memory, now
Do what seems right
Do what you please
Please others
Put on a sinister smile and a twinkle in your eyes
Give unending hugs
Grab a squeeze when you can
Please be good
Please be God
Life lied
Strolling along heartbroken streets and well tread footpaths
Tread softly, don’t break my heart
Please
Tick tock stop
Life lied
Life knows no place
Life lied
Life is but a story
Told to those who live it
Sudan, kwashiorkor, poverty, starvation
That is not life
That is death come to life
Death stole life’s persona
Base camp,
This world
Life resides in the malls of New York city
Daily shopping for 12 carat this, gold plated that
Life has laughter and joy
Covering rotten emotions
Harboring deepest evil
Unrest
Stop
Tick tock stop
Life knows no gender
Disgrace
Discriminate
Deliberate untruths
A soul with stunted growth bearing a soul of rapid growth
Stunted, numbed, removed
Physical action causes emotional retardation
Stop
New life created to be ripped from new old life
A child bearing a child
A man, unknown, unseen, unloved
Life lied
Stop
Tock
Tick tock stop
Life is unequally divided
Multiplied, subtracted
Multiplied to hasty proportion
Subtracted and removed
Leaves gaping holes, jagged cliffs
Jump off a cliff, life is over
Life has just began
Fly, soar, drift on the never-ending drafts of this life
It fades when your grandmother closes her eyes
It announces its arrival as a newborn baby shouts for joy
At the prospect of being thrust into life
Carelessly, lovingly pushed
Live life, run through the fields of cultivated love
Stumble on rocks of educated jealousy
Live life to the fullest
Rob others, rob yourself
Life ends, life starts
An endless spiral
Tick tock stop

Narrative landscape but good craft. Insight developing with age.

At the end of the day, what an individual has done to create truth in life is important. I like how your poem tackles the clouded life we seem to be living in, great work.

The beat of this piece rings like the swing of the pendulum of the clock of life. With highs and lows and wonder and horror, the pendulum swings. Excellent!

Those are true chronicles of life, the bad seem to outweigh the good but it's the persistence of moral minded people who keep the world from tipping over into total chaos. Strong write!

GOD created a path in life. GOOD & EVIL are in the forest surrounding that path. You spoke some real truths. I live in New York City, and they use gold bumper LIMOS to shop with also while a pan-handler walks by.

hi. Im glad you liked it. Life's only a path but the way we live it affects eternity. thank you
